Ceramic flooring in 2026 moves toward large-format slabs up to 278 cm long, warm earth tones instead of cool grey, and matte "soft touch" textures.

Format

60x60cm and 80×80 cm are now standard; 90×90 cm, 120×120 cm, and slabs up to 120×278 cm are gaining ground for a near-seamless surface. Larger slabs demand a perfectly flat substrate and specialised handling on site.

Colour and texture

The palette shifts from cool grey to sand, terracotta and clay tones, with greige as a timeless middle ground and blush or moss-green as playful accents. Matte, "soft touch" surfaces dominate, sometimes with relief or linen-like texture; wood-look ceramic remains a durable alternative to timber.

Permeable terraces on pedestal supports

Ceramic tiles installed on adjustable pedestals are an excellent solution for creating durable and water-permeable terraces. The raised installation system allows rainwater to drain freely through the open joints between the tiles and into the ground or drainage layer below. This helps reduce surface water and supports sustainable water management. Ceramic tiles are resistant to weather, stains, and temperature changes, while their robust surface ensures long-term performance. The pedestal system also provides easy access to the space underneath for maintenance or drainage adjustments. In addition, tiles can be replaced individually if necessary, making this a flexible and practical solution for modern outdoor spaces.
